It’s pretty hard to choose among the many blockbusters that Leonard DiCaprio has starred in to come up with Leonardo DiCaprio best movies, but I have to admit there are a few that stand out above all the rest.
Here are some of Leonardo DiCaprio Best Movies
1997’s “Titanic” always seems to come to mind first when discussing DiCaprio’s accomplishments. It was such a huge success and held the coveted position of highest grossing picture for quite sometime. It made Leo a household name and made the hearts of women worldwide go into atrial fibrillation. Let’s face it; he was young and gorgeous from the start of the film to the end.
And, at awards time, the film practically swept the Golden Globes, won an ASC Award, a DGA Award and much more. “Titanic” also received ten nominations at the BAFTA awards, but didn’t win any. It received 14 Oscar nominations and actually won 11 of them. Neither the James Cameron screenplay nor Leo even received a nomination, although both certainly deserved it.
For anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of seeing “Titanic”, it’s the story of the famously ill-fated cruise ship and a young couple from completely different walks of life who find true love onboard. The couple includes the beautiful young Kate Winslet, who plays poor little rich girl, Rose DeWitt Bukater, and Leo who plays Jack Dawson, a penniless artist. The film was directed by the ultra-talented James Cameron and includes fantastic special effects, music and cinematography. “Titanic” is a must-see for Leo fans, as well as fans of epic love stories and period pieces.
For sheer fun and cinematic enjoyment, the 2002 “Catch Me if You Can” is one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s best movies. It chronicles the life of Frank Abignail Jr., a real-life criminal genius, played by DiCaprio, who is relentlessly chased by a very funny and lovable FBI agent, played by Tom Hanks, who later becomes his friend. Leo plays this part with a boyish impishness paired with a touch of sadness at times for his lot in life. Forced to be on his own at a young age by family circumstances, he turns to masquerading as numerous people, including an airline pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer, and forging checks, which he ends up being extremely good at. He’s so good that eventually he ends up working for the FBI as the head of their bogus check division. It’s a great film with some great characters and you’re sure to love it, too.
The 2006 film “Blood Diamond” is also one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s best movies. The film is a political thriller that takes place during the period of 1996 to 2001, which was when the Sierra Leone Civil War took place. Leo received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his performance. His costars included Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou, who also received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor.
And, no list of Leonardo DiCaprio’s best movies would ever be complete without at least a mention of his latest film, “The Revenant”. He has already won a Golden Globe for Best Actor and an Academy Award nomination, as well. The film has also been nominated for numerous other Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. It’s sure to go down in history at the top of the list of his very best work as the real-life brave and relentless mountain man who survives a bear attack. It’s definitely a must-see.
